Dr. Nair was born in India and emigrated to the US in 1972. He attended high school in Phoenix, Arizona and went to college at Stanford University. He returned to Arizona to attend medical school at the University of Arizona in Tucson, where he stayed on to do his General Surgery residency. During his residency he returned to Stanford for a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Transplantation Immunology. He and his wife moved to Salem in 1999 to establish his General and Laparoscopic Surgery practice at Salem Clinic. In 2006, he became the Founding Medical Director of the Salem Hospital Bariatric Surgery Center. This program received the prestigious Center of Excellence designation in 2010. From a professional standpoint, Dr. Nair especially enjoys helping his patients understand the nature of their surgical problem and assisting them to choose appropriate therapies for their individual needs. On a personal note, his hobbies include reading, travel, and marathon running, while his wife and daughter are avid horseback riders.
