Marilyn Halder, MD, MPH

My career in healthcare started during in college year, where I received the opportunity to volunteer in a rural health setting to help care for under-served populations with acute and chronic diseases. I was able to pursue my dream of becoming a physician and to hone my skills to help people care for themselves. I aim to continue to do so in my practice.

I have always been motivated by the community, family and patient-based perspective of family medicine. I enjoy the diversity family medicine offers, as I care for infants all the way to older adults, and know that when I care for one person in a family it will affect the wellness of the entire family. I view myself as a facilitator and partner to my patients, someone who can guide them down the road to prevention and wellness.

In my practice I offer a wide range of care including general wellness for all ages, acute and chronic disease management, women's health, contraception management and dementia care. I am able to perform many procedures in the office, often eliminating the need for patients to seek treatment elsewhere. I work hard to gain my patients' trust and try to make sure they feel heard and involved in their plan of care. I practice evidence-based medicine and have a strong belief in preventive healthcare. I hope to inspire patients to make healthy lifestyle changes and encourage them to take ownership of their health and wellness. I want them to leave my office less stressed than when they came in. I also aim to help my patients navigate the healthcare system which can often be confusing.

Away from my practice, I spend time with my son, lifetime friends and dogs. I enjoy hiking, reading good novel, gardening and traveling.
