Ryan K. Cooley, MD

I chose to practice at Salem Clinic because of the unique combination of physician input and control, the investment in quality patient care outcomes, and community involvement/action that I have not seen elsewhere. The quality of the staff and my colleagues is superior; we have no weak links. I serve to help not only my patients, but also my colleagues and the clinic to be successful. Beyond my role as a family medicine physician, I also work in our urgent care clinics or the hospital as needed.

I desire to see the world; to walk the varied topographies, experience different cultures and eat all of the regional foods. I love to travel and explore! I my free time, I also enjoy watching movies, exercising, spending time with my pets, reading about science and technology, listening to TED talks, attending live performances of all varieties, and watching Virginia basketball and football (Go Hoos!)

I ran my first half-marathon in 2013 and haven't stopped yet! I compete in races up and down the west coast, as time allows. One of my greatest accomplishments has been hand-digging and terracing my entire backyard; using every daylight hour of each weekend, it took me nearly an entire summer!
