Bio
Dr. Praneet Nanduri is board certified in Internal Medicine and Addiction Medicine. While Internal Medicine is focused on older adults with complex medical care, Addiction Medicine applies to all age groups and helps patients in their recovery from substance use. This includes injectable medications monthly if needed for certain patients.  In delving through a patient's history of substance use he tries to uncover their emotional or physical pain and treat accordingly. Working at Salem Clinic, Dr. Nanduri often enjoys the complexity of cases from both specialties.

Over many years, chronic pain management has become another focus for Dr. Nanduri’s work combining skills of his training in the above disciplines. He reviews medications and gives consideration to potentially safer options for pain management that are evidence based. He discusses options for multiple types of joint injections or myofascial injections to help alleviate targeted musculoskeletal pain. He also is certified in Acupuncture as a complementary medicine discipline to alleviate certain types of intractable pain. He continues to research different modalities that may be helpful with less invasive interventional pain options as a first line. Dr. Nanduri believes in patient education and enjoys forming a treatment plan together to help each patient reach their health goals.

In his spare time, Dr. Nanduri enjoys the outdoors and family time. He continues to try and stay active by practicing martial arts and occasionally e-biking.

Appropriate medications, including Buprenorphine, can be used considering its much safer profile as well as better pain control overall.Musculoskeletal injections appropriately administered can form an important part of your chronic pain treatment. Other modalities, including acupuncture, with or without, electrical stimulation may be tried in order to desensitize versus retraining pain neurons.

What Is Addiction Medicine?

Addiction medicine is a medical specialty focused on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of substance use disorders. It addresses the complex ways addiction affects both the body and mind, offering evidence-based treatments to help individuals regain control of their health and lives.

As an addiction medicine physician, I provide comprehensive care that may include medications to ease withdrawal and cravings, behavioral therapy support, and treatment for coexisting medical or mental health conditions. My approach is compassionate and nonjudgmental, recognizing addiction as a chronic medical condition rather than a personal failure.

Whether you’re struggling with alcohol, opioids, or other substances, effective treatment is available. My goal is to help you safely navigate recovery, improve your overall well-being, and support long-term success.

What Is Addiction Medicine?

Managing Chronic Pain with a Safer, More Effective Approach

Chronic pain is complex, and while opioids can provide relief, long-term use—especially at high doses—can lead to serious side effects, including tolerance, dependence, and other health risks. My goal is to help you manage pain in a way that improves your quality of life without unnecessary harm.

I take a comprehensive, patient-centered approach to pain management, combining safer medication strategies with evidence-based treatments such as physical therapy, interventional procedures, and, when appropriate, alternative therapies like acupuncture. If you are on high-dose opioids and experiencing side effects, we can explore personalized options to reduce risks while still effectively managing your pain.

You don’t have to choose between pain relief and your overall health. Together, we can develop a balanced plan that helps you feel better and regain function safely.

Managing Chronic Pain with a Safer, More Effective Approach

Acupuncture for Chronic Pain & Addiction Recovery

Acupuncture is a safe, evidence-based treatment that can help manage chronic pain and support addiction recovery. It works by stimulating specific points on the body to promote natural healing, reduce inflammation, and improve overall well-being.

For chronic pain, acupuncture has been shown to help with conditions like back pain, arthritis, migraines, and nerve pain by enhancing circulation, releasing endorphins (the body’s natural painkillers), and reducing muscle tension. It can be an effective option alongside other treatments to improve pain relief without relying solely on medications.

In addiction recovery, acupuncture can help ease withdrawal symptoms, reduce cravings, and promote relaxation. Research supports its role in balancing the nervous system, reducing stress, and improving sleep—key factors in long-term recovery.

Whether you’re managing pain, working toward recovery, or looking for a more holistic approach to health, acupuncture can be a valuable tool in your treatment plan. Let’s explore how it can support your journey to better health.
