Dr. Okuns then completed a family medicine residency at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, where he also served as chief resident. After moving to Oregon in 2011, he has practiced in both hospital and outpatient environments, providing comprehensive care to patients of all ages. His clinical experience includes ambulatory family medicine roles at Legacy Medical Group and Southwest Family Physicians, as well as part-time hospitalist work.
In addition to his family medicine board certification, Dr. Okuns is board certified by the American Board of Obesity Medicine, underscoring his interest and expertise in the prevention and management of obesity and related metabolic conditions. He provides adult obesity care in and integrates evidence-based obesity management into his primary care practice.
Dr. Okuns also has held positions as a medical consultant for disability and life-insurance claims, and has served as an EPIC EHR tutor at his previous practice assisting colleagues improve electronic health record efficiency. He is known for a thoughtful, patient-centered approach and a commitment to helping patients achieve long-term health goals.
Dr. Okuns is enthusiastic about joining Salem Clinic and looks forward to serving the community with compassionate, evidence-based primary care, with additional emphasis on obesity management.
